Nexgen Oil & Gas was established to respond to one of the most significant shifts in Nigeria's energy sector — the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021. This landmark legislation restructured the entire sector, created a streamlined regulatory authority (NMDPRA), mandated open-access pipeline operations, and reduced licensing timelines by 40%.

We saw this as a generational opportunity. Nigeria imports nearly all of its refined petroleum products despite sitting on vast hydrocarbon reserves. The commissioning of the Dangote Refinery — Africa's largest at 650,000 barrels per day — has fundamentally changed the domestic supply picture. What is missing is the distribution infrastructure, gas processing capacity, and storage networks to move these products efficiently to market. That is the gap Nexgen was built to fill.
